Issue #255: Bending the Age Curve

Good morning. It’s Saturday, October 21st.

Today’s Quick Win

  • Stat of the Day: Lebron James - 21 Years Later

  • What We’re Listening To: Dr. Nathan Bryan

  • Bucket List: Kilmartin Glen

  • Brain Games: Odd Words

  • Question: Humming

Human metabolism is very well understood. If we give the body what it needs and remove what it doesn’t need, then the body heals itself, converts food into energy and performs at peak levels.
— Dr. Nathan Bryan

The average number of points per game LeBron James averaged in the 2022-2023 season.

We wrote about LeBron’s longevity regimen back when he broke the all-time NBA scoring record in February (Issue #125).

He’s now poised for his 21st NBA season - only 5 other players have ever played that long and none of them were still playing at an All-Star level like LeBron. Think about where you were in 2003 compared to today!

He’s an absolute outlier compared to the best players to ever shoot a basketball when it comes to still being at the top of his game. All the other players fell off a cliff in their mid-30’s.

You can argue that it’s due to modern medical science and technology - like how is Aaron Rodgers walking and throwing a football just 5 weeks after tearing his Achilles tendon? I’ve seen friends with this injury - it takes up to a year to fully recover.

Need another crazy example? Tom Cruise (61) - still doing his own insane stunts - is older in the latest Mission Impossible movie than Jon Voight was in the first Mission Impossible back in 1996 - he was 57.

This just shows what’s possible when we take care of our body. Who knows how long LeBron will keep playing. Who knows how long Tom Cruise will keep running, rock climbing, and giving us motorcycle chase scenes.

But it’s not just about professional athletes or actors redefining longevity - it’s possible for all of us.

Don’t think that the aging curves of the past still apply - we can create new graphs for our future health & longevity!

P.S. - As a couple of Cleveland natives - don’t be surprised if we continue to promote the only athlete in our lifetime to bring a championship to our hometown 😁

This Week

This week we explored nitric oxide and how the hormone can benefit your health.

Issue #253 - boosting nitric oxide (NO) is the key to fighting heart disease you never knew about. Enhancing NO can be achieved through exercise, a better diet, and even humming.

Issue #254 - boosting NO increases sexual desire and performance for men and sexual pleasure for women.

Bucket List | Kilmartin Glen

Over 5,000 years of human history can be traced across the Kilmartin valley. At least 350 ancient monuments (150 prehistoric) lie within six miles of the quiet village of Kilmartin. Of particular interest are chambered cairns, round cairns, cists, standing stones and rock carvings. It’s a Scottish Stonehenge without all the people.

Explore the natural lands - walking, hiking, mountain biking, maybe make your way to Loch Craignish. The Kilmartin Museum has experiences that delve into the region’s relics and flourishing natural life, and the Kilmartin Castle has been transformed into a boutique hotel. It’s the middle of nowhere (2+ hour drive from Glasgow), but isn’t that sometimes the point.

If you take the first letter of each word and place it at the end, it will spell the same word backward.
